My name is Edgar Hasani Ortiz-Guerra and I’m a Software Engineer living in Lynwood, California. I received my Bachelors of Science in Computer Science from California State University Long Beach and am currently working on my Masters in Computer Science at CSULB as well. I currently work as a Software Engineer for Cisco Systems in Costa Mesa for their Service Provider Video Technology Group. After a few years of working in industry, I hope to start my own software company.
I started playing guitar about 9 years ago. Over the years, I played for several local bands in varying capacities as a guitar player. There are several videos of me playing on my YouTube Channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/ehog
I lead a very active and healthy lifestyle motivated by a battle with morbid obesity. I recently won Shaklee’s What’s Your Cinch Transformation Story? contest with this essay and photo:
In November of 2009, I made the decision to make a serious commitment to transform my life. From then on, I moved away from the self-destructive eating habits that were leading me down the road to high-cholesterol, high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, and certainly an early death. At my peak, I weighed four hundred pounds. With the help of my dear friend, certified personal trainer, and Shaklee distributor, Ruben Cervantes, I was able to make the changes necessary to lose 180 pounds. At the time, my diet consisted of pizza, hamburgers, soda, and McDonalds three times a day. Ruben helped me change that. With his counsel, we planned out meals that would maintain a daily caloric deficit to enable me to lose weight in a safe and healthy manner. Shaklee’s line of Cinchproducts became an essential part of this balanced nutritional plan. We integrated the Cinch Shakes, Meal-in-a-Bar, Snack Bars, and 3-in-1-boost to my diet. Along the way, the Vitalizer, Vivix, Soy Protein Mix, Stress Relief complex, CaratoMax, and FlavoMax were introduced to my supplement intake. One of the best moments in this whole journey was taking out all of the clothing items in my closet that had a size containing an X on it. Some of these clothing items included 4XL shirts and size 50 pants. Along the way, $2,000 worth of clothing was discarded or donated. The change in my lifestyle has had the affect of inspiring and motivating friends, and family to change their own habits to be healthier and more active.Today, I am leading an active and healthy lifestyle. I’ve run two 5ks, a 10k, and three half-marathons. I lead periodic hiking trips with friends and family. As I train for athletic events, Shaklee’s sports nutrition supplements help me recover faster and stronger from some of the most intense workouts. My hope is to train for a triathlon, and continue to set the example of an active, and healthy lifestyle supported by Shaklee’s great products.
